Thanks for using trus.tt. trus.tt values your privacy and protection of your personal data very much. Below we want to inform you of how we protect your data and how we do this in accordance with the provisions of German data protection statutes. The legal framework for data protection may be found in the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Telemedia Act (TMG).

You have full control

trus.tt has been developed to give you full control of your data when searching and using the social functionality. trus.tt does not save data without your consent: No search history, no clicked search results (discoveries), no user profiles you visited. trus.tt does not use any trackers. When using the trus.tt extension, you will be asked before usage about which mode you want to choose for transferring data. If you want to make anonymous discoveries, you can use our Swarm user. Only if you register and login, when making a discovery, a hit or adding a comment, when sharing a link or starting a campaign, we will save your respective data.

How we protect your data

All data of trus.tt website are transferred encrypted to our servers. All trus.tt applications (website, extensions and mobile apps) are protected with great care against damage, deletion or unauthorized access. However, please be aware that data transfer via internet is subject to security risks and, therefore, complete protection against third-party access to transferred data cannot be ensured.
Our main focus is to protect your personal data. According to § 3 Abs. 1 BDSG this is specific data about your personal situation. Especially this is data like name, address, E-Mail or telephone number, but also usage data like your IP address.

What data we store

Cookies

To be able to store your settings, like for language, our website makes use of so-called cookies. Cookies are small text files that your internet browser downloads and stores on your device. They cause no damage there, do not contain malicious software and do not allow us to spy on you. We use two types of cookies. So-called "session cookies" are deleted once you leave our website. In contrast, permanent cookies expire after a maximum of twelve months. This type of cookies allows us, to recognize you when you visit our website again. You can prevent cookies from being installed by adjusting settings on your browser software accordingly, you can also delete cookies in this way. You should be aware, however, that by doing so you are not able to make full use of all functions of our website.

Contact Form and Email

On our website, we offer you the opportunity to contact us, either by email and/or by using a contact form. In such event, information provided by you is stored to facilitate communication with you.

Registration

We offer you the opportunity to sign up for our website and login afterwards. Information entered when signing up and information you add to your profile is stored on our servers. When you add discoveries, hits or comments, share discoveries or start campaigns, we store respective data on our servers. When signing up for our website, we also store your IP address and date and time you registered. This serves to protect us in the event a third party improperly and without your knowledge makes use of your data to sign up for our site.

Login with Facebook, Google, Twitter and Windows Live

We offer you the possibility to sign up and sign in with your profile data from your Facebook, Google, Twitter or Windows Live account. In that case an additional sign up for trus.tt is not necessary. If you decide to sign up with your Facebook, Google, Twitter or Windows Live account, these providers will get access to some of your personal data in trus.tt, like your encrypted Email and other information from your registration at trus.tt. At the same time, we get access to your Email address, your name and your profile picture and in some cases other publicly available profile data from Facebook, Google, Twitter or Windows Live. If you do not agree with this data exchange, please do not use this option for registration and login, instead register with trus.tt itself and use this account for your login to trus.tt.

Your activities in trus.tt

For technical reasons, specific data, which your internet browser transmits to us or (so called server log files), needs to be stored on our servers. This anonymous data is stored separately from any personal information you may have provided, thereby making it impossible to connect it to any particular person. We store your IP-address, date and time of your visit, the page you visited and if you got a successfully response. This data is only used for error analysis and is deleted regularly, i.e. there is no permanent storing. At any time, you can contact us and require deletion of this data.

Payments

You can start a trus.tt campaign by buying a budget and you can earn money by participating in a campaign. For this, we create records in our accounting program (Kashflow).

For deposits and paying outs for the campaigns we use Paypal. For deposits, you only choose the amount in trus.tt and then you will get redirected to Paypal. We only store the response from Paypal that confirms your payment. For paying outs we need the ID of your Paypal-Account, which we will store for the payment process together with the response from Paypal, that confirms the payment to you. Also for these payments we create records bookings in our accounting program.

Newsletter

trus.tt offers you the opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter and receive Emails regarding your activities on trus.tt. To receive our newsletter, we require a valid email address. When subscribing to our newsletter, we will store your IP address as well as date and time you subscribed. This serves to protect us in the event a third party improperly and without your knowledge makes use of your email address to subscribe to our newsletter. For sending Emails, we use Newsletter2GO as provider. More information about how Newsletter2Go protects your data, can be found at Newsletter2Go’s website (https://trus.tt/discoveries/13671937).

When sending you an Email, we will store, if and when you have opened and read it. We store this data only to make sure you have received our Email. Data thereby collected is used solely to make sure you have received our newsletter. No data is transferred to third parties. Nor is any of this information matched to any information that other components of our website may collect. You may cancel your subscription to our newsletter at any time. You will find additional details in the email confirming your subscription as well as in each newsletter.

Where we store your data

Your data that is created by using trus.tt is stored on our trus.tt servers. These are hosted by HostEurope and are located in their data center near Strasbourg in France. (https://trus.tt/discoveries/13671934).

Servers of our provider for sending Emails, Newsletter2Go, are located in Germany (https://trus.tt/discoveries/13671932).

Servers of our provider Kashflow, that we use for booking records of your campaign payments as well as invoices for this, are located in London (https://trus.tt/discoveries/13671933).

On a daily basis, we create an encrypted backup of our database that is stored at Dropbox on servers located in USA (https://trus.tt/discoveries/13671935).

How long do we store your data

We store your data according to the means of the usage and the legal requirements for storing and deleting time periods. When you delete your account, we delete all data and activities, which are not connected to a payment. We need to keep the data connected to your payments according to the legal requirements beyond your account deletion.

We don’t give your data to third parties

None of your data from using trus.tt is transferred to third parties with the exception where this is legally required. Therefore, transfer to entitled governmental institutions and authorities is only done in case of legal duty to provide information or if we are obliged to provide information by means of a judicial decision.

We are also very serious about our internal data protection measures. Our team members and the providers we use are obliged to maintain secrecy.

In some occasions, trus.tt uses content hosted on third party applications, like videos from YouTube. This requires that these providers recognize your IP-address to be able to send this content to your browser and make your browser show it. We try our best to use only providers that use that IP-address only for delivering content, though it is beyond our control if the provider does use this IP e.g. for statistical purpose also. If we know about it, we let you know.

Your rights for information, cancellation and deletion

On the basis of the Federal Data Protection Act, you may contact us at no cost if you have questions relating to collection, processing or use of your personal information, if you wish to request correction, blocking or deletion of the same, or if you wish to cancel explicitly granted consent. Please note that you have the right to have incorrect data corrected or to have personal data deleted, where such claim is not barred by any legal obligation to retain this data.
